Recent heavy snows in the Great Smoky Mountains has forced park officials to delay the opening of the Clingmans Dome Road.
Over 18 inches of snow recently fell in higher elevations of the Smokies including the Clingmans Dome area.
Friday was the scheduled opening date for the road but park spokeswoman Dana Soehn stated that it will be early next week before it’s open to the public.
