The two-year restoration of Alum Cave Trail recently announced by Great Smoky Mountains National Park began today (May 4).
The trail and associated parking areas will be closed weekly from May 4 through Nov. 19, from 7 a.m. Monday through 5:30 p.m. Thursday.
Due to the construction process on the narrow trail, a full closure is necessary for the safety of both the crew and visitors. The trail will be fully open each week on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday.
