Clingmans Dome road, one of the most popular spots in the Great Smokies, will open on Wednesday morning March 30, two days earlier than normal.
The road closes in December for the winter and usually doesn’t open until April 1 but with no snow present and all facilities ready, the park will be allowing visitors to visit the highest point in the park (6,643 ft.) two days early.
The tower located on Clingmans Dome gives visitors spectacular views of the Great Smokies. It’s also a very popular spot with photographers looking to capture breathtaking photos of Smoky Mountain sunrises and sunsets.
