City man rescues California family’s memories
Sometimes the right person is in the right place at the right time. So it was when Springfield’s Jeff Blevins went to the Smoky Mountains recently.
Jeff and his wife, Melodee, were hiking in Great Smoky Mountains National Park near the border of Tennessee and North Carolina. They had been there before but, this time, found their favorite trails were closed. They took a different path. It was a six-mile trail that went across a shallow stream. Melodee waded in and took the opportunity to rest for a while.
