The first time Earl and Tammi Layhue laid eyes on the hills of Southern Appalachia, they knew they’d come home.
At the time they were living in Sandusky, Ohio; the year was 1997, and they came down on vacation. A few years later, they returned for their honeymoon, and again, the mountains spoke to Layhue in a way that’s difficult for the Pigeon Forge-based singer-songwriter to describe, he told The Daily Times this week.
