Newport Plain Talk – Newport, TN
The third annual Music of the Mountains, an afternoon program devoted to the celebration of Cocke County’s gospel music heritage, will be held Sunday, April 21, at the Smoky Mountains Visitors Center in Cosby starting at 2 p.m.
“Our hills will indeed be alive with the sounds of music,” said Cocke County Tourism Director Linda Lewanski. “Music of the Mountains will provide visitors an opportunity to step back in time and listen to some ‘Sunday music’ similar to what they would have heard at the time of Great Smoky Mountains National Park’s inception in the early 1930s.”
Lewanski explained Music of the Mountains is part of a three-day event, sponsored by GSMNP, Great Smoky Mountains Association, the Smoky Mountains Heritage Center, and Cocke County Partnership’s Tourism Council.
